How to Design CMOS Analog Circuits

Dr. Allen is teaching a 5-day, short course on how to design CMOS analog circuits using ELECTRIC and NGSpice on the Efabless design platform.  When you finish this course, you will have developed the following skills:

  • How to use ELECTRIC and NGSpice for schematic capture and simulation190814-01
  • Design and simulation of the following circuits:
    1. Bias circuit independent of power supply
    2. Bandgap circuit
    3. Op amp
    4. Low power op amp
  • Understand the following topics:
    1. XFAB 350nm BiCMOS technology
    2. Feedback in analog circuits
    3. Reliability and latchup
    4. Troubleshooting
    5. ESD in analog circuits

On completion of this course, you will be able to do design and simulation of analog circuits using CMOS technology on the Efabless design platform at any time and any place you have access to the internet.

Location and Date of Course

The course will be held on November 4-8, 2019 at the Hampton Inn & Suites, located at 19 South 2ndStreet, Fernandina Beach, Florida 32024, USA.  This hotel is located in the historic downtown district on Amelia Island.  A block or rooms has been reserved for the program registrants, but other accommodations are also nearby.  Amelia Island is a 40-minute drive northeast from Jacksonville International Airport and located in the very NE corner of Florida.

Course Schedule

The course will meet each day starting at 9am and ending at 5pm.  There will be two morning sessions, each dealing with various aspects of designing CMOS analog circuits.  The afternoon will consist of a 3-hour laboratory using ELECTRIC and NGSpice to design analog circuits in XFABs 350 nm BiCMOS technology.  Lunch break will be from 11:45am to 1pm with plenty of nearby choices for lunch.

Course Fee

The course fee of $1,995 includes electronic copy of the notes (at the time of the course) and access to the Professional Courses on the website AICDesign.org. You must bring a laptop with a sufficient size screen (i.e., 15 inches) to display the lecture notes and to do the designs.  The laptop should have wi-fi capability to connect to the hotel’s internet. If you use a mouse with your laptop, ELECTRIC and NGSpice on the Efabless platform require a wired mouse. If the course does not make or you cannot attend after enrolling, your fee will be returned minus the cost of the Professional Course access ($250).
